New Patients
Visiting a new dental practice can be daunting, whether you’re changing from your current practice or haven’t visited a dentist in a while. We believe that it’s never too late to improve your dental health, no matter your age or how bad you feel your teeth are. Treat your first consultation as a fresh start.
A warm welcome
The first person you will usually meet at our practice is one of our friendly reception staff. We have a relaxing waiting room, filled with up-to-date magazines to help put you at ease whilst waiting for your appointment. Our friendly receptionists are always up for a chat if you would prefer!
We ask that you arrive a few minutes before your appointment to complete a short but necessary medical history form. The receptionist may have already emailed this to you, if so make sure you bring the form along with you.
Your first consultation
Your initial consultation will be a 30 minute appointment. In this appointment your dentist will chat to you about any concerns and issues you have with your smile. They will take the time to get to know you and do a full assessment of your oral health. During your consultation they will:
- Examine your gum health
- Assess the condition of your teeth and current restorations
- Undertake an oral cancer screening
- Take detailed digital x-rays (if required)
- Assess your jaw joints (TMJ)
Your dentist will explain what they are doing and discuss their findings with you. Don’t be afraid to ask them any questions you may have.
What next?
Your dentist will develop a treatment plan tailored specifically for you. They will advise you whether there are different treatment options available so you are able to make an informed decision about your own treatment going forwards. The written treatment plan will be given to you by our reception team which will outline the recommended treatment and costs. They will also discuss payment options with you if you ask.
The end of your first visit
By the end of your first visit to us, we hope that it wasn’t as overwhelming as you were expecting and that you will know more about your smile than ever before. We encourage you to book your follow up appointments whilst you are here!
