Louise Toney qualified from the University of Manchester in 1998. After working in Birmingham in general practice, she moved to South Wales and worked in community and hospital services. During her time in the hospital services she worked in the oral surgery and oral medicine departments where she gained practical knowledge and experience as well as mentoring dental students. Louise has been working at Kings Mills since 2005 and took over the practice in 2022 along with Keith Otty. She has a special interest in oral surgery and oral medicine and therefore patients of our practice who require complex oral surgery are referred to her by our other dentists. Due to her extensive experience working in dental hospitals she also treats any patients of Kings Mills who require General Anaesthesia at the PEH. Throughout her time working at Kings Mills, Louise has gained a reputation for her kind and caring nature and therefore is a hit with our more nervous patients. In her spare time Louise likes reading and doing crafts, as well as being an enthusiastic street dancer!

Keith Otty qualified from the University of Bristol in 2002. He went on to work in both private and NHS practices in Bournemouth which is where he met his wife Ellie. Keith and Ellie then moved back to her home island of Guernsey in 2010 and continued their careers in dentistry. Keith has been involved with the Guernsey Dental Association for over 10 years, starting as chairman and more recently as secretary. Part of this role has included being dental liaison to a number of HSC and PEH governance committees. Keith has been working at Kings Mills since 2014 and took over the practice with Louise Toney in 2022. Keith’s ethos is to practice modern minimally invasive dentistry. This focuses on early prevention and tooth sparing techniques which can allow patients to maintain more of their natural smiles. He has a special interest in endodontics and due to his extensive experience he undertakes all complex root canal treatments for our practice’s patients. Keith is a keen surfer and in his spare time (or lunchtimes when there’s a good surf!) you will often catch him surfing the waves at Vazon. He spends the rest of his free time coaching his son’s football team or training for the local triathlon series.

Michelle Chamberlain graduated from the University of Birmingham in 1990. She gained the DGDP qualification from the Royal College of Surgeons in 1994 and has previously held a part-time Clinical Assistant’s Orthodontics post in the Northern General Hospital. She has undertaken extensive postgraduate education which enables her to improve her skills and provide excellent care for her patients. Michelle was a dentist in Lichfield for over 30 years, gaining a reputation for high-quality, caring dentistry that matches the individual needs of her patients. Her patients are the core of why she loves her job. Michelle joined the Kings Mills team in June 2023 after moving to Guernsey. She has already become an integral part of our team being a hit amongst our new and existing patients. In her spare time Michelle enjoys walking her dogs along the lovely beaches of Guernsey. She is also a keen embroiderer and spends a lot of her time doing so. When she’s not in Guernsey Michelle enjoys travelling with her partner.

Ellie Otty graduated from Kings College London in 2001 and worked in the UK prior to moving back to her home island of Guernsey in 2010. She has since gone on to study at the University of Warwick where she obtained a diploma in Orthodontics. Ellie is the Clinical Lead and Head of the Department at the Children’s Dental Service where she works on complex paediatric and orthodontic cases. Ellie joined the Kings Mills team in 2022 where she works one day a week as our Orthodontic Practitioner. She is an extremely kind dentist who is passionate about providing high quality orthodontics. Ellie treats patients of our practice who require orthodontic treatment as well as accepting referrals from other dental practices. Ellie is also more than happy to see patients who would like her opinion without a referral from a dentist. Ellie spends her spare time looking after her two children as well as enjoying running, surfing and yoga.

Claire Waters graduated from the University of Manchester in 1984 gaining her qualification as a Dental Hygienist. Claire joined Kings Mills in 1985 and has been a fundamental part of our team since, providing oral hygiene care and advice to our patients and their families. Claire is enthusiastic about advising and supporting her patients to achieve and maintain excellent oral health. Her kind and caring manner makes a trip to the hygienist a more friendly and pleasant experience. In her spare time Claire enjoys gardening, walking and quiz nights with her girlfriends as well as being an avid reader. She is also a keen baker; as a team we are more than happy to sample her baked goods for quality control!

Vanessa started at Kings Mills in 2016 and gained her dental nurse qualification in 2018. She has gone on to do additional qualifications in Infection Control, Lead Dental Nursing and Practice Management. She is responsible for the running and marketing of the practice as well as clinical governance, auditing and overseeing the training of all new staff in the practice. Vanessa manages the staff and clinics and works hard to ensure the smooth and efficient running of the practice. Her positive outlook helps to maintain staff morale and her approachable manner means she is always there to help out patients and staff with any questions or problems they may have. She says running the practice is like herding cats, and that’s just keeping the staff in check! Although she doesn’t nurse as much anymore, her calm and reassuring manner is a benefit when treating nervous patients. In her spare time she is busy renovating her house with her partner and enjoys a good bottomless brunch!

Nadia joined our team in 2020 after being a dental nurse in Madeira for 12 years. After completing her dental nurse exams with us, she qualified at the end of 2022. She is very approachable with her friendly and kind manner. Nadia has gained a lot of experience in different areas of dentistry over the years and is subsequently now our lead orthodontic nurse in the practice ensuring the smooth running of the treatment for our orthodontic patients. Nadia is keen to progress her knowledge and skills and has recently gained an additional qualification in Infection Protection Control. In her spare time Nadia enjoys going out for meals with her partner and friends. She also has an incredible set of eyelashes!

Lydia’s dental nursing career started in 2015 and she qualified in 2018. In 2022 Lydia went travelling around South-east Asia and on her return she decided to join our team. Lydia is already proving to be an invaluable member of the team, bringing her vast amount of skills and knowledge including her additional qualification in Infection Protection Control. She takes everything in her stride and her kind and caring personality shines through with her patient interactions. She particularly enjoys cosmetic dentistry as she finds the end results of a patient’s happy smile the most rewarding part of being a dental nurse. In her spare time Lydia enjoys going for walks on the beach and making flapjacks. Lydia adores all animals and volunteered at a cats and dogs rescue sanctuary when in Thailand.

Leinina joined our team in 2023 when our practice expanded. She is new to dental nursing but enjoys the varied role of the job. Leinina is currently studying towards her Dental Nurse Qualification to progress her training and expand her knowledge further. She has fitted into our team really well and brings a lift to our days with her shining and bubbly personality! Leinina has also recently started working with our Orthodontic Practitioner to learn about orthodontics and this has turned into an area of dentistry she is really passionate about. In her spare time she goes to the gym and helps paint her partner’s cars for his sand racing.

Shami joined our team in 2023 as a Trainee Dental Nurse. After studying towards her Health and Social Care Diploma she decided that working whilst training would be more beneficial. Shami is completely new to dentistry but has picked up the job very quickly. She enjoys the varied aspects of the role and working with all of our dentists doing different treatments. Shami is looking forward to starting her training to increase her knowledge of dentistry further. In her spare time, Shami has a strong interest in fashion. She is also currently learning to drive on the roads of Guernsey!

Chloe joined our team in the Autumn of 2023. She has previously studied and gained her Level 3 in Health & Social Care and from that decided to pursue a career in dental nursing. Chloe has fitted into our team really well and has picked up dental nursing like a duck to water! She is looking forward to expanding her knowledge further and gaining new skills when she starts her dental nursing course. In her spare time Chloe enjoys going for long walks with her 2 cockapoos Roxy and Sooty as well as spending time with her family and boyfriend.

Carol has worked at Kings Mills since 1999 and is our morning receptionist with more than 24 years reception experience. Having worked here for a long time, Carol is a friendly face to our regular patients and helps to put you at ease by having a good chat in the waiting room (especially if you like football!) Carol is responsible for maintaining our appointment books and organising appointments, as well as liaising with other healthcare professionals on the Island and in the UK to ensure our patients receive the best care possible. In her spare time Carol likes watching Chelsea win (sometimes!) as well as running around after her great-nephew. She is also a keen sea-swimmer, as long as the sun is shining!
